Weekend fun in Dhaka

Thursday is finally here but what is planned for the weekend? Well every weekend is different but here is a brief view into this weekend which is unfortunetly almost over.
On Thursday night I met three friends for dinner at el Toro, the Dhaka Mexican restaurant, which as well as the delicious food also hosts a great atmosphere and low prices. Fun was had catching up and talking of people who have left us for drier shores (it hasn't stopped raining today). We then made our way to our Australian friends for a few by the pool.
Friday morning with a slightly foggy head but great plan for the day, I cooked breakfast for Linda, Anna and my flat mate Kat. They were treated to the famous Tipperary scrambled eggs, fruit and croissants, so an international spread all round. Linda and I then made our way doen into the thick of the weekend markets in order to replenish our Sawa Kamises supply as well as pick up a few household items. The afternoon was a pleasant one with lunch at the original coffee shop of Dhaka in Dhamondi and which according to all has the best chocolate cake and brownies around.
The Mro people are an ethnic minority people who live in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Eastern Bangladesh. They have suffered much and are constantly in dander of losing their way of live. A Bangladeshi photographer along with support from the Danish government, spent a number of days over the course of several years living and photographing the Mro people. We were privileged to enjoy his wonderful exibition yesterday afternoon. Here are all the crew with the man himself in the centre of the picture.

A wonderful dinner was enjoyed by all present at Chris and Luke's house on Friday night; including the first time for me to try someone other than my mother's version of the aubergine yogurt salad. What can I say Chris, you are a great chef.
Today began with a lazy breakfast of Museli and yogurt (this country has got the best yogurt), and an attempt at some work while chilling out in my very nice flat. I then ventured out for a light lunch with Linda and Anna and a heavy shopping session followed. The tailors were delighted to see us and Dara they miss you like crazy. Now the night is closing in and cooking dinner beckons. I had a great weekend and hope you all did where ever you are.
