Acid Survivors Foundation Charity Ball

In a world which already has so much natural hardships and Bangladesh a country which has over the years suffered from famine, floods and poverty, why do people insist on making the lives of others a living hell. Acid attacks are too common in Bangladesh as men use them as a form of 'punishment' when their wives do not 'perform' their daily duties. Many women die from their horrific injuries, but many others survive and have to live the rest of their lives coping with the physical and emotional scars they bear. The ASF has been doing great work with the victims for several years, but as the chairperson said it is the victims themselves who are the heroes as they pick up the pieces of their lives and carry on.
On Thursday the 31st of August the ASF organised a charity ball in the Shereton Hotel in Dhaka in order to raise money and to generate awareness on the issue of acid attacks. The evening included a fashion show by Bi Bi Russell, auctions, a great band and dancing into the wee hours of the morning. It was a great evening and fun was had by all, but we must not forget the real reason we were there and continue to support the work being done by ASF.
