On Friday the 15th we started the celebrations for Michel's birthday which lasted well into the wee hours of his actual birthday on the 16th. The theme of the party as chosen by the party planner herself Sofia, was The Bold and The Beautiful or glamourous soap stars. Myself, Linda and Sarah went as the original Charlie's angels from the 70s tv series; with Anna as Charlie (it's the 21st century and we decided that Charlie is a sexy woman) and Luke as Bosley (those pictures are being kept for a later date). The outfits were great with lots of glamour. A big hit was Katarina adn Niki who went as Moulin Rouge stars :-)
The evening started with a performance by Shams and his band and was followed shortly after with Sofia's recitation of a great poem (you had to be there to know which one). Sofia later sang two songs with Shams and proved that she really can sing. We danced to ABBA, Frank Sinatra's New York (to which we tactfully added Dhaka in place of New York - if you can make it HERE you really can make it ANYWHERE) and a variety of other songs. When the party threatened to end at 2.30am we were blessed by the enterance of our special Aussie friends in the form of Deb, Louise, Bridget and Sam. Bewteen us we managaed to keep the party going till 5am and went home with the sound of the morning call to prayer guiding our way.
A big happy birthday to Michel and thanks to him and Sofia for a wonderful party.
