Swimming with the fish

So I have shared with you the wonderful experience of elephant riding, motorcycle adventures and beach time, but I must give an insight to the wonderful experience of snorkelling in Thailand:
A whole day on a boat travelling out to all the tiny islands which lay around Koh Chang, lay in store for us on the Tuesday of our holiday week. We set off at 9 in the morning following another fantastic breakfast by the beach, to the small fishing village of Ban Bong. We descended from the pickup truck and made our way along the woden pier past dozens of small restaurants serving every item of seafood that eer had the unfortunate luck of being trapped in a Thai net. The mixture of aromas was a little too interesting for 9.30am but passed by swiftly enough as we made our way down to the awaiting boat.
We were a fairly large group with people from all over the world and lots of Thai people enjoying their holidays; including a 'white' Thai family who remained in the darkest part of the boat and spent the majority of the day applying makeup - it takes all sorts to make the world go round! The boat came fully equipped with an endless supply of water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and fresh fruit, as well as 2 full meals during the course of the day.
Our snorkelling adventures took us past islands of rolling green hills and others of palm trees and white sand. We made four stops during the day, at three very different snorkelling spots and saw some othe most beautiful coral and underwater colours. I also saw the biggest school of fish I have ever seen. Amusment came in the form of watching some of the Thai snorkellers fully equipped with life jacket, flippers and a guide swimming round the waters, and the sight of so many burnt bottoms by the end of the day as people spent most of the day with their heads in the water and their behind's floating above.
We made our way back to Koh Chang exhasuted but with wonderful memories of the life beneath the sea.
