On just another Dhaka day Charlene made her way through the shops in Navana Tower and found herself in a shop that didn't sell anything specific. But this shop suddanly became a very famous shop and moved into the Dhaka history books! The reason Charlene picked up a party moustache pack. To most of you this may not seem like a major event, but in Dhaka this is groundbreaking. In a town where costumes or anything out of the ordinary is hard to come by this was a gold find. The idea of all people wearing moustaches caused great excitment for Charlene.
In previous conversations between this lovely Chinese Amercian and a certain tall Swede, the idea of a party at which only Swedish music was played, had it seemed alsobeen discussed. As time ran short and Charlene prepares to leave us, while Linda has already abandoned Dhaka till the 18th of December, the most original idea to come out of Dhaka yet was decided upon - a Swedish Moustache party!
Yes I know you all want to know how this would work, well it was quite simple really. We went to great lengths to obtain the precious moustaches after it turned out that the original party pack had been a one time offer. Moutaches came from all corners of the world, with people visiting the city being order to cancel their trip unless their bag contained the precious commodity.
Now for the Swedish part - music through out the night would only be played if it was from the Nordic country. Now this did not involve hours and hours of ABBA as some of you may think, but a rather interesting variation of music genres. On the other hand there are many songs which I have listened to for years and have now come to the realisation of their place of origin - you would not believe some of the songs that are Swedish!
Wonderful attempts were made by all and I personally danced the night away with my moustache on my chest as it slipped down shortly after being stuck on. Thanks to Charlene and Linda for a great party and inventing a new tradition - who knows it may become a yearly event here in Dhaka or we could hold in a different country every year. Where next November? Beijing, Stockholm, Washington, Orange County - the sky is the limit.

The moustache trend is not limited to Dhaka, it is a global trend. I am currently working on a report in which my colleague insisted on including a sentence about the "importance of a well groomed moustache" in certain markets.
