The Carcassonne Gang

People have questioned as to why there was a reunion only one week after leaving the desh! The answer is easy aside from Anna everyone else had abandoned Dhaka months before; besides who needs an excuse to relax and sip wine with wonderful friends in the South of France. It really was fantastic; Sofia and Michel came from The Hague, HC from Oslo, Charlene all the way from Beijing, Vic from London, and Dara and her crew drove over for the weekend from Barcelona. Catching up with everyone was too much fun, and Caitriona got to meet some of my Dhaka family.
The days were spent wandering the old streets of Carcassonne, visiting the medieval town or just gazing up at it from the terrace at the back of the house. There was of course plenty of food and an abundance of wine. There was a trip into the surrounding towns and castles of the past; and a further trip day trip to the Mediterranean at Narbonne, on which the return journey was spent sampling some of the local wines.
The fireworks were once again out of this world - well it was the second time for me. Dara and her peeps drove across from Barcelona for the weekend and they were a great addition to the party.
All too soon it was time to part ways and all head back to our perspective corners of the world. It was a fabulous week which ended all too soon. Let us all hope that this is the first of many not the one and only...
